Question: Dear Dr Tinkler, I've had traditional metal braces in the past and had four teeth removed in the process. My overbite, unfortunately, has returned due to my wisdom teeth coming through and pushing all my teeth forward. My dentist says I can not have invisalign and will need traditional braces again due to the fact that there is no space available to move the front teeth back. He said the traditional braces would also have to be attached to a small nail that will be placed at the back of my upper jaw. I would obviously much prefer to have invisalign as it is far less invasive and sounds much less painful, so I thought I would go for a second opinion on the matter. Thank you!
Answer: It is possible to correct overbite and overjet with Invisalign. Space can be achieved by moving the back teeth.
Obviously I would need to see you for a Complimentary Consulatation to be sure. A lot of my time is spent correcting 'relapse' cases where patients had braces when younger, but for whatever reason the teeth have slipped back.
Please feel free to book a complimentary consult so we can discuss your case in person.
Kind Regards
Graham Tinkler BDS
